Highlights from PA CHEP's 2024 Annual Meeting
On November 15, 2024, PA CHEP hosted its Annual Meeting at the Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport, PA. Themed "Navigating the New Pell Landscape: Opportunities and Perspectives," the event brought together over 100 educators, advocates, policymakers, and justice-impacted individuals to discuss the evolving landscape of higher education in prisons.
This vibrant gathering featured a diverse array of panels, workshops, and keynote speeches, fostering connections and inspiring innovative approaches to advancing access to education for incarcerated students.
Event Highlights
Keynote Address: Romarilyn Ralston, Senior Director of the Justice Education Center at the Claremont Colleges, delivered a moving speech on "Education as a Pathway to Freedom," sharing her personal journey and the transformative power of education in the lives of justice-impacted individuals.

Unlocking Opportunities: Discussing how to navigate Pell Grant eligibility for incarcerated students.
Leadership Behind Bars: Perspectives from principals on integrating higher education into correctional institutions.
Reentry, Education, Prevention, and Recovery: A three-part series featuring justice-impacted individuals sharing their stories and insights.
